The reed clamp made by oboi.st with suitably adjusted force, will close your reed and hold it in the proper position so that it cannot open more than you wish.
You can keep the reed with the clamp inside your reed box. For European and American style reeds and d’amore reeds. Two options of closure: standard and tight fit for very open reeds.
English horn reed clamp suits also to baroque, and baroque d’amore reeds. With english horn reed clamps keep the clamp with the line down on the reed.
1. Put your open reed into the water for 2 min.
2. Gently close the reed with your fingers and insert the reed clamp under the scraped area
3. You can insert it from the top of the reed, but much better applied from the side of the reed.
4. Let the reed dry with the reed clamp overnight
5. When you want to play on this reed, soak it with the clamp for 2 min
and be ready to have comfort during your practice session!
